Description:

smbnetfs does not recognise my network attached storage (as the only program on the computer). The reason is probably this error:

WARNING: Unknown libsmbclient version: 4.1.3
SMBNetFS may not work as expected.

According to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/FAQ#Package_Management, smbnetfs should either be updated upstream or flagged out-of-date, right?
This task depends upon

Cannot reproduce

# pacman -Q smbclient
smbclient 4.1.3-1
# systemctl restart smbnetfs.service
#

and /mnt/smbnet shows neighbourhood and works well.

What do you get when you run

> smbnetfs ./smbfs

as a normal user? This should produce the error message I posted earlier.

$ smbnetfs ./smbfs
WARNING: Unknown libsmbclient version: 4.1.3
SMBNetFS may not work as expected.

30400->reconfigure_read_config_file: Error: (file: /home/sergej/.smb/smbnetfs.conf) Invalid input line : time_delta 5
30400->reconfigure_read_config_file: Error: (file: /home/sergej/.smb/smbnetfs.conf) Invalid input line : config_update_interval
...many errors because of outdated config...

but then it works the same as smbnetfs.service

Well, congrats that it works for you(TM). I have managed to make it work now, too, and I am going to update the wiki with a description of how I did it. Indeed, a huge part of making it work was to fix my samba setup.

Still, the warning says that there might be incompatibilities. Thus my point remains: The package is outdated (see warning) and should either be marked as such or upgraded, should it not?

outdated means that upstream (http://sourceforge.net/projects/smbnetfs/files/) has newer version than Arch repo. smbnetfs-0.5.3a is latest.

Oh sorry, I did not check. OK then, thank you very much!
