We used to carry a patch [1] (as a lot of distros do) to make the -p flag "useful". We dropped it some time ago in favor of following upstream.

As I'd expect, rebuilding coreutils does nothing for me...

$ uname -p
unknown
$ pkg/coreutils/usr/bin/uname -p
unknown
