Details

When starting cgminer, the message FATAL: Module i2c-bcm2708 not found. you need to be root? appears and it will not find any hardware. This is for cgminer 3.8.3 on kernel 3.12.1-3

What if you just modprobe the module as root before starting cgminer?

It couldn't be found. I am not quite sure that I am supposed to have this module. Google only turns up stuff about a Raspberry Pi, which I am most certainly not running.

Do you have a supported chip (and it's not KnC) to run cgminer?
Since 3.8 cgminer decided to drop GPU mining support, and you need a FPGA or ASIC device to mine.

Oh. Sorry for wasting your time - I was trying to mine on a GPU and I didn't realize they dropped GPU support.
