Antialised fonts won't work perfectly... see for example
Monodoc (or sometimes other programs).

The attached conf.d file should disable the use of ugly bitmap fonts in all your fontconfig enabled applications.
Another option would be to uninstall your bitmap fonts, but not every application likes that approach.
