Is there any motive for that? It's almost blocker for me. AFAIK, it's usual to patch other packages without upstream support.

If you read the upstream bug report you see this comment by Martin:
"no! that's a very bad idea! I'm using ksnapshot quite a lot to capture desktop effects."

And in Arch it's usual to patch other packages only _with_ upstream support.
