Udev 0.80-3 doesn't start correctly on my system, the init said that it's loaded (BUSY-->DONE in just less than one second) but in real it is already loading... so the swap doesn't goes on and locals filesystem won't be mounted because udev hasn't created device nodes. (it says /dev/hdX don't present).

With 0.79 no problems at all

could it be that you run into the upgrade bug?
try this shutdown your pc with halt after upgrade then turn it on again.
i had such problems only with using reboot after udev updgrade.

Yesss! Now it works!
However this issue has to be specified somewhere because people like me, during simple administration tasks, reboot more often than shutdown!

081 shouldn't have the problem anymore, my systems here never got stuck on reboots or fresh starts, hope for you too.
i'm closing this now.
