Description:

Since the last upgrade of quassel-client package from 0.9.1-1 to 0.9.1-3, I no longer get desktop notifications (private message, highlight, ...). I am using gnome-shell, and my arch system is up-to-date. I tried to revert to 0.9.1-1 and notifications are working again. I can see that the -3 update has something to do with better KDE integration.... not sure if something is required on non KDE Desktop? Needless to say, notifications are working for any other applications.

Additional info:
* package version(s) 0.9.1-3 (x86_64)
* config and/or log files etc. n/a

On my system:
$ pacman -Q kdelibs qt4 libnotify
kdelibs 4.11.3-1
qt4 4.8.5-6
libnotify 0.7.6-1

Steps to reproduce:

Reason for closing:  Won't fix
Additional comments about closing:  as it seems to be Gnome's decision

KDE implements the XDG spec for the notification area, and IIRC Gnome chose not to support this. I think that is what is responsible for (the lack of) notifications.
