Description: I get gaps while the flac coded song is played. I tried Amarok and VLC with the same result, and flac123 sounds good without gaps. My system is x86_64 and is updated. I have core2duo with GMA Intel x3100. The issue started a few hours ago.

Error showed in shell by VLC and Amarok output:
[0x7fcb78c0ae98] flac decoder error: The decoder encountered reserved fields in use in the stream.
[0x7fcb78c0ae98] flac decoder error: frame's data did not match the CRC in the footer.

I've checked the files with
$ flac -t *.flac
And there are no errors.

Additional info:
flac 1.3.0-1
lib32-flac 1.3.0-1
vlc 2.1.1-2
phonon-vlc 0.7.0-2
amarok 2.8.0-1
flac123 0.0.12-1

do you have the same problem with mplayer ?

I don't have error messages about "flac decoder" in the console, but I can hear gaps if I use vlc and amarok with flac files under virtualbox ( archlinux 32 bits i686 )

but if use mplayer I don't hear gaps, all is ok

Everything is fine with mplayer/smplayer. Note that my system is x86_64 -> 64bits; I'm not sure if you understood the wrong thing.

I can confirm the issue.

Has it been reported upstream? I haven’t been able to find it.

I don't know, I just filled this report.

I changed to mplayer phonon backend and now Amarok works fine.

Maybe is a vlc backend issue ?

Definitely a VLC issue. I was experiencing the same thing after my last update, which included vlc (2.1.0-5 -> 2.1.1-2). Downgrading VLC solved the problem. The player I use is Tomahawk, with the VLC backend.
