fbida is a simple program, mainly used for viewing pictures on frame-buffer consoles. IMO it shouldn't have
so many dependencies on things like sane or lirc+pctv.
I attach a patch that cleans up the PKGBUILD and removes these deps.
It's quite easy to remove lessitf and thus X support completely by adding 'HAVE_MOTIF' on the 'for config...'
line on that patch.

fbi is ... but fbida is a collection of also other tools... in fact, this was some times ago a fbi-only pkg but the author now provides this as a collection of tools. when i find some time, i will check the patch and see if it breaks something removing this deps. in general i agree with you that it should be optimised as much as possible.

I tested the patch and it seems to work fine. Moreover, I think that a modification is quite urgent: there is no lirc+pctv in arch repos, only just lirc. Thus, if a user tries to "pacman -S fbida", the installation fails complaining about the unsatisfiable dep.

Yes, lirc+pctv got merged in with lirc. This dependency on the defunct lirc+pctv should be removed.
