It would be very nice if the official conky package supported Lua by default. Are there any issues with including it?

Lua support was removed because of this: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/15382
Could you argue a little more for the re-inclusion of lua other than that it would be very nice?

There doesn't seem to be a way to build it as an optdepend, so it might as well be made a dependency. A lot of people don't need it, true, but that's also the case for most of conky's other features.
