DetailsI'm not 100% sure of this but it looks like at least the man(5) proc page is out of date, or at least incorrect.
I have man-pages 3.54-1 man(5) proc says: /proc/kcore This file represents the physical memory of the system and is stored in the ELF core file format. With this pseudo-file, and an unstripped kernel (/usr/src/linux/vmlinux) binary, GDB can be used to examine the current state of any kernel data structures. The total length of the file is the size of physical memory (RAM) plus 4KB. that last part is not correct, when catting /proc/kcore it went up to 54GB and then I ran out of space, but i only have 8GB RAM. |
