Description:
ASS subtitles aren't working as libass was recently updated to libass.so.5, and the binary XBMC is trying to load libass.so.4.

A straightforward recompile of the xbmc package fixes it.

Steps to reproduce:
play something with ASS subtitles. They won't be formatted properly: XBMC drops back to showing them nonstyled, with random internal gubbins displayed as well.
