Description:
I have a Plantronics GameCom 780 that works fine on Fedora 19. On Arch, about 50% of the time it is not detected during boot. After reconnecting the device, it's still not listed with aplay -l, so it's not usable unless I reboot the machine.

Is detection better with older kernels?

Is it always detected if you plug it in after booting?

There are times that the device is not detected if I plug in after booting. Dmesg will print this after every reconnection until reboot:

[ 690.544149] cannot find the slot for index 0 (range 0-1), error: -16
[ 690.544161] cannot create card instance 0
[ 690.544167] snd-usb-audio: probe of 1-1.2:1.0 failed with error -5

Searching this, I found the same issue on gentoo forums (2006), but got fixed on a later version of ALSA.

Fedora 19 has alsa-lib 1.0.27.2-1.fc19, and I got installed alsa-lib 1.0.27.2-1 here on arch. Maybe a FC patch solved this? Could not find it.

This behaviour happens with a fresh install, without pulse or a DE. Should I downgrade the kernel?

Does this happened in a laptop or desktop ?

I had a similar issue with my laptop when the USB mouse attached. When the laptop is not connected to power source, it just failed to recognized the USB mouse. But when I restart the laptop after connecting the power adaptor it always worked perfectly.

Well, I connected on a rear USB port and detection always happens now. Dunno what changed.
