The dependency makes sense. Try running a samba server without all those libs in smbclient...

We should rethink this splitup. Does it still make sense this way?

Maybe those libs that are common for client and server then belong to smbcommon?

Please send me a proposal which libs belongs to which package.

I have not experience in this but to me it looks like that libs that are common to smbclient and samba belong to samba-common(or smbcommon): gnutls, ldb, libbsd, libcups, popt, python2, talloc, tdb. (+ libs that are now in smclient but which are necessary for samba)
Then samba would depent on samba-common + aditional libs: db, initparser, libaio, libcab.

Since now samba depends on whole smbclient I cannot tell if there are libs that belong to smbclient and not to samba. If there are any then smbclient would depend on samba-common + those libs.

Please send a patch against PKGBUILD, I'll not do the fiddling with the libs.
