When vlc is building against ffmpeg-compat, I get this warning:
configure: WARNING: libavutil >= 0.52.4 and libavcodec >= 54.36.0 are required for VDPAU decoding.
This goes away when building against ffmpeg (thus why it worked in 2.1.0-2).

building options in logoutput http://pastebin.com/ghZgNA1p solves it. but it is not common solution.

please compile VLC with "--enable-merge-ffmpeg" and without " PKG_CONFIG_PATH+="/usr/lib/ffmpeg-compat/pkgconfig" "

Anthony already explained why vdpau is missing. I'll push VLC built against extra/ in the near future.
