Hello,

Systemd provides by default a systemd-binfmt.service:
http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd-binfmt.service.html

It is enabled by default, add would allow to associate win executables with wine.

All there is to do is add a /etc/binfmt.d/wine.conf file:
# Start WINE on Windows executables
:DOSWin:M::MZ::/usr/bin/wine:
It is the picked by systemd-binfmt automatically, no need for the binfmt-support package.

What do you think ?

Reason for closing:  Upstream
Additional comments about closing:  Take this to upstream. Integrating this into their build system should be easy enough and they are happy to accept patches. We are not gonna take this in because it is completely cross distro.

I think it belongs to /usr/lib/binfmt.d (/etc/binfmt.d is where the admin can put his own files, packages don't touch that) and I also think this file should be maintained by wine upstream since every distro can benefit from this. Please take this to their bug tracker.

I submited a patch @ wine-devel:

Got a first neutral reply:
