Description:
today I got loop starting lightdm after pacman -Suy

in depth I found that network wifi driver, I built with dkms from aur not loaded after the
kernel update

the logs were looks like

deleting the content of /var/lib/lightdm/.* helps but! when dkms return back my wifi alive I got the same behavior after reboot. I don't really know how fully fix this, but the workaround is again to remove /var/lib/lightdm/.* content

I tried to change VT1 to VT7 and back, no luck here

oh shit, my fault sorry. it happens every reboot on pacman -Suy 'ed system, no network issues here

it seems /var/lib/lightdm/.Xauthority no random anymore

temorary fixed by

/etc/tmpfiles.d/remove-lightdm-xauth.conf
r /var/lib/lightdm/.Xauthority* - - - - -

it seems to be working now
IMHO it would be good to disable service restart also on error behavior, like
Restart=on-abort or even Restart=no since it drives monitor and gpu crazy due to endless switching, especially on nvidia proprietary driver where modesettings does not implemented and effect the ssh the only way to fix this for now

In my experience, it only restarts 5 times, then stops. Anyway, I could add that line but .Xauthority shouldn't get corrupted in the first place, and I don't think hiding the effect of it being corrupt is the way to go. Finding and eliminating the cause of corruption would make much more sense imho.
