Correction: I see that gt4 is already optional in the PKGBUILD, but pulled in by makedepends.

If you are building your own version of graphviz and do not need gvedit/qt4, you may remove it from the list of make dependencies. However, official packages are used by many people, some of which may be interested in gvedit/qt4 and therefore we are not going to drop qt4 distro-wide.
