Description:
Why is this package called "java-antlr3" instead of "antlr3" although there is a package of the older major version of the project called "antlr2"? Also, it is not just a Java library as the naming scheme with prefix "java-" would suggest but it's a general compiler generator tool that can be used with many programming languages. It just happens to be written in Java and delivered as a jar file. There is also a package "antlr3" in AUR. Maybe you can take a look at it because the major difference is that it also supports an executable, a script to run the main program located in the jar file. |

Because the package was intended to be used as a java dependency. My own experience with it was to use as a java dependency but if someone would need it as a script then yes I could provide a shell script along. In that case I would rename the package.
