I was able to install the "evolution" package without "gnome-keyring". However, a problem arose when I then tried to access my Gmail account via IMAP. Basically, it didn't ask for my password and just kept trying to synchronise forever.

I guessed I probably needed to install the "gnome-keyring" package as well, and it turns out I was right. However, I don't think you can bank on all other people working this out as well. My suggestion would be to add "gnome-keyring" as at least an optional dependency.

Reason for closing:  Not a bug
Additional comments about closing:  No. gnome-keyring is an optdepend for libgnome-keyring and libsecret. You're responsible for a keyring service when you install applications using one of these libraries.
