DetailsDescription:
After upgrading from ghostscript 9.07-3 to 9.08-1, png generation in maxima (specifically the imaxima.el interface) no longer works Additional info: * ghostscript 9.07-3 * N/A Steps to reproduce: 1) open emacs and invoke imaxima (M-x imaxima) 2) Assuming imaxima is configured to display output in png format (imaxima-image-type set to png). Enter anything, e.g., x**2, 3) The output is only an empty box. What is expected is a latex'ed version of the input. 4) Switch to the *Messages* buffer in emacs, and you see errors like [Cannot find image file `/tmp/imaxima1054svj/1'], indicating the failure of png generation. 5) Downgrading to ghostscript 9.07-3 solves the problem. |

See http://www.ghostscript.com/doc/current/News.htm for recent changes.
I'll hold it back in testing for a bit longer.
If nothing else is affected I'd like to move the new release to extra. Old 9.07 had other bugs the new release solves.
Sorry for the delay. I just opened a ticket upstream,
https://sourceforge.net/p/maxima/bugs/2626/
Will report back if there is any update.
I'd suggest to include a warning of this potential conflict so people using imaxima know downgrading gs is a workaround.
