Description:
While setting up a multifunction printer, cups installation worked as expected. However, as soon as sane was installed, the printer became unusable (not detected anymore by cups - "Waiting for printer to become available" status). It was still seen by lsusb, but while listing the printer usb bus (ls -l /dev/bus/usb/001/004) it was now seen as "root scanner" instead of "root lp". Problem: The udev rule set up by sane has a highter priority over the udev rule set up by cups. How to fix: Rename sane's udev rule in order for cups to take priority. Additional info: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167598 Steps to reproduce: Install cups and configure the printer part of your multifunction printer. Install sane and configure the scanner part of your multifunction printer. The printer doesn't work anymore. Apologizing for the poor description due to my lack of Linux skill - Many thanks to forum member brebs (https://bbs.archlinux.org/profile.php?id=10353) for his support. |
