DetailsThere's really no reason for calibre to check for updates. Unfortunately, updates can only be disabled through a runtime flag. Please consider adding `--no-update-check` to the desktop file's Exec field. I have attached an updated desktop_integration.patch.

Question: does this disable checking for update of Calibre only or of plugins as well? If the it's the latter, I'd be against this.
