You need to use "echo -e" to use a newline like that. Right now, it's putting a literal '\n' in the file making it non-functional, and making vlc non-functional in most cases.

It also shouldn't (re)define /usr/lib, since that's part of the hardcoded include path.

The install scriptlet is also unnecessary, as pacman runs ldconfig after package removal/installation.

Ah, so it's a hack to workaround the fact that the ffmpeg-compat libs weren't renamed.

@falconindy: Yes, because VLC 2.0.x won't support ffmpeg 2.0. I'll remove scriplet too.
