DetailsThe kernel26 2.6.14.4-2 completely takes out Synaptics. My Synaptics driver is not loaded anymore, none of its stuff are working anymore (for example speed, vertical scrolling etc)

Apparently, after the recent kernel upgrade, if you use hwdetect Synaptics works. If you use Hotplug, it doesn't.

you need to load evdev, else it does not work, hwdetect does load evdev, i'm not sure about hotplug doing this.
