when using the 'screen locking' feature of screen-4.0.2-1 on the 2.6 kernel. (I compiled mine... its not the Arch 2.6 kernel package, but another user reported the same problem with his own 2.6 kernel too), I am not able to 'unlock' my screen with my password.

The thing is that when i reboot into my 2.4 kernel, it works nicely, but on 2.6 it behaves like i entered the wrong password.

this looks like a pam problem. Dale found xscreensaver to be laggy under 2.6 too. Did a little sniffing on this and found that the previous ver of pam [0.7.6] works fine. I'll forward this onto Judd with the suggestion of leaving it alone for now, people that really want these minor annoyances fixed can build pam 0.76 manually until 0.78 comes out.
