Bug is described here. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1196155. Kernel 3.10 uses CONFIG_INTEL_MEI=y by default, which exposed a bug in the intel_mei driver that totally hangs suspend/resume on a black screen. Accoring to the launchpad bug report building the kernel with CONFIG_INTEL_MEI*=m should fix it (or at the very least let us blacklist the module and avoid the bug)

I have another bug with mei_me on hibernate/resume(maybe I'll report it later), I've just set mei_me to 'm', and caught spamming dmesg just now.
Update: After I set mei_me to 'm', my hibernate/resume problem also resolved.
