python-pytables and python2-pytables can't be installed side by side because of some conflicting binaries:

/usr/bin/ptdump
/usr/bin/ptrepack

The python2 versions should be renamed, as it is already done in many other python2/3 packages.

Additional info:

I will rename them to /usr/bin/pt2to3-2.7 and so on, like in kdebindings-* packages, I think it's better than python2-pt2to3, because in the long run, it makes less apps show up when using tab completion.
