When I ran an upgrade today, cantarell-fonts was upgraded to 0.0.13.
My Gnome desktop then suddenly stopped hinting for the (default) Cantarell font, resulting in very ugly fonts. Setting hinting to 'Slight' did work, but 'Full' gave the same result as 'None'.
Downgrading from 0.0.13 to 0.0.12 fixed the problem.
I noticed that 0.0.12 contained an extra configuration file (21-cantarell-hinting.conf). However, using 0.0.13 and adding this configuration file didn't seem to make any difference.

Are you sure? With Freetype's new CFF renderer, the difference between "None" and "Full" is not very noticeable.

Same here. Downgrading freetype2 gives the same result.
You are right, Jan. The difference is not very noticeable. Both are ugly, in my opinion.
Only slight hinting, which distorts Dejavu Sans if set in gnome-tweak-tool, is tolerable.

You can read some of my threads here, though please don't be offended.

But I really find the Cantarell looks awful now, as if it's motion blurred and make me almost feel dizzy.
I do recognize that this is not your fault anyway. I just can't agree with you.
