Description:
My fonts suddenly stopped rendering some utf-8 symbols and I reinstalled archlinux several times until I realized that it was a missing optional dependency.
So please add ttf-freefont (at least), ttf-symbola and ttf-mph-2b-damase as opt dependencies to fontconfig.
This task depends upon

little correction:
ttf-mph-2b-damase is just a font, I misread the description.

IMHO fonts shouldn't be an optdepend for a font configuration library. Fontconfig doesn't depend on any font, it's your responsibility to add fonts that you need.

they aren't fonts. They are extensions which add symbols to other fonts (hard to find because they look like normal fonts).
