Detailslooks like the rc.d script for syslog doesn't record the current pid (actually it tries twice, the binary does it, and the script does it (locking race?)).
This could be a potential security risk as the logs are not rotated as configured in logrotate (killall can't find syslog's PID). removing the "echo $PID > /var/run/syslogd.pid" line from /etc/rc.d/syslogd seems to fix it in my tests. |
