Details

Nvidia fairls to compile, and produces the following error:

# rm: cannot remove `/usr/lib/libGL.la': No such file or directory
# FATAL: Module nvidia not found.

Workaround: Downgrading from gcc 4.1.0-1 (in testing) to 4.0.2-2 (in current) results in a successful compilation.

probably because the kernel was not compiled with gcc 4.1.0

and vice versa - to use the newer testing kernel 2.6.14.3-2 with nvidia, one also needs to upgrade the gcc to 4.1.0-1.
otherwise it throws out that similar messages about libGL and nvidia module compilation fails.
