Description:
It by default depends on some wallpaper in the package gnome-themes-standard to display the background right. Hope gnome-themes-standard be added to optdep , or make this package contain the wallpapers needed (/usr/share/themes/Adwaita/backgrounds/). I didn' t find how to change the wallpaper path manually.

You can change the background in the following way:

1. Create the file /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gnome-screensaver.gschema.override with the following content:

[org.gnome.desktop.background]
picture-uri='file:///patch/to/the/background.jpg'

2. Then run the following command as root:
# glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

3. Finally, log out and log in back.

Anyway, I added gnome-themes-standard as an optional dependency of gnome-screensaver.
