Description:
Cold initiating a gtalk video call with empathy doesn't work while utilizing the Lifecam HD5000 (as a webcam). I have managed to have successful video calls by cancelling the initial video call while keeping the window still open; initiating a second video call. When this second call connects, the other party cannot see my webcam but is available to hear my microphone. I then subsequently tell empathy not to show my webcam, mute the webcam (in empathy), turn on video (in empathy), and unmute my webcam. After this process, the Gtalk video call works normally.

It seems that there is a problem with accessing the mic and webcam simultaneously.

Steps to reproduce:
Try to initiate/receive a gtalk video call with the Lifecam HD5000 webcam.

Perhaps, the method in which empathy accesses the webcam should change to access the video portion first, then the microphone.
