What am I missing here? Why Avahi doesn't start?

This is an issue with dbus that doesn't instantly reload configuration. When you restart dbus, the new configuration files for avahi are also processed. Without restarting dbus, avahi can't load because dbus doesn't know what to do with the bus permissions for avahi.

Edit: couldn't we do this in post_install:
[ -f /var/run/dbus.pid ] && kill -HUP `cat /var/run/dbus.pid`

This is just ironic. The inter-communication application called D-Bus can't figure out when its own configuration was modified.
Anyways, I will try this later.
