DetailsAfter upgrade to alsa-lib-1.0.10-1 the dmixer-plugin does no longer work. With alsa-lib-1.0.9-2 everything works fine.
I attached my /etc/asound.conf. It's the regular one from the wiki-article "Allow multiple programs to play sound at once". This is the output of alsaplayer: ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:819:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave snd_pcm_open: Das Gerät oder die Ressource ist belegt (default) Failed to initialize plugin! Failed to register plugin: /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/libalsa_out.so Failed to load output plugin "alsa". Trying defaults. ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:819:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave snd_pcm_open: Das Gerät oder die Ressource ist belegt (default) Failed to initialize plugin! /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/libalsa_out.so failed to load jack: server not running? /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/libjack_out.so failed to load error opening /dev/dsp Failed to initialize plugin! /usr/lib/alsaplayer/output/liboss_out.so failed to load NOTE: THIS IS THE NULL PLUGIN. YOU WILL NOT HEAR SOUND!! Thanks, samoht |
This task depends upon
asound.conf
the latest releases should "dmix" automatically - maybe not optimally in all cases, but Your config file is really quite generic.
alsa-lib: as said, 1.0.9-2 is working, 1.0.10-1 is not working.
Soundmodule is snd_ice1712.
Do you know how I can permanently downgrade a package? I put "alsa-lib" in the "HoldPkg"-Line in /etc/pacman.conf, but "pacman -Syu" still tries to upgrade it.
that alsaplayer output indicates that the soundsystem isn't accessible at all, oder ist schon belegt.
whats the output of
$ cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/info
(the default output pcm's "p"-playback channel)
You need IgnorePkg, not HoldPkg (just read it in man pacman :)
HoldPkg = <package> [package] ...
If a user tries to --remove a package that's listed in HoldPkg, pacman will ask for confirmation before proceeding.
IgnorePkg = <package> [package] ...
Instructs pacman to ignore any upgrades for this package when performing a --sysupgrade.
I just wanted to let you know that I encountered the same misbehaviour of the current alsa.
Alsa version 1.0.9 was working fine with me, version 1.0.10 does not.
Dmixer refuses to work regardless of using a asound.conf or not.
I even use the same sound card module(ice_1712).

There aren't many liveCDs with alsa 1.0.10, but at least the newest BerryLinux and 64 Studio claim to have it (see distrowatch.com).
IMHO, bugtrack.alsa-project.org could be more helpful in this case.
ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:812:(snd_pcm_direct_initialize_slave) requested or auto-format is not available
Here's content of /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/info:
card: 0
device: 0
subdevice: 0
stream: PLAYBACK
id: ICE1712 multi
name: ICE1712 multi
subname: subdevice #0
class: 0
subclass: 0
subdevices_count: 1
subdevices_avail: 1
Thanks
PCM output works for me without problems. Only simutanously playing of audio streams does not work.

Cos... (and here comes my rant)
does the alsa-project bug viewer SUCK, man!!!
first, this is a https link - what for??? And then u burden me with a useless cert that isnt even properly certifiable (so i have to click, and ignore that warning). What for is my question. Is the information soo valuable that u can't use http??
Never mind. Second, after this horrible atrocity, **u have to login**, before u will be able to see the bug info. How nice.
</End Rant>
The bug is removed in current cvs of alsa-lib.
BTW: you can visit the link by clicking on "[ Guest login (view only) is also available. ]".
yes, of course, i know. Sorry about that. The "u" in my rant was a generic "u".

oh, sorry about that. Missed that. Thanks.
