Description: Would you be open to build hdf5 with szip in depends? szip is a compression library directly from the hdf group that is currently just in AUR and would, I guess, need to be in Extra for this.

I'm sort of undecided on this. On a feature standpoint I would say yes. That said I'm not really in favor of the only free for non-commercial use license. Any opinions on the license?

I think I prefer adding libaec instead as a dependency
( FS#39115 ) which is supposedly a drop in replacement for szip minus the licensing issues.

It's not my package, but I'll agree that libaec is the better choice.
