(the package is not outdated, as it is the current released version)

It appears that Sphinx does not support python 3.3, causing some operations to fail without being an upstream bug. In my opinion we should move to 1.2b1 for python-sphinx (while staying at 1.1.3 for python2-shpinx).

E.g. https://bitbucket.org/birkenfeld/sphinx/issue/1168/generating-manpages-throws-a-traceback

I don’t have specific steps to reproduce with a minimal example, however, you can

git clone http://git.poezio.eu/poezio
cd poezio/doc
make man

It fails with 1.1.3 but is fine with 1.2b1

I got the following comments from Daniel Neuhäuser on IRC:

12:35:13 DasIch | seblu: hm, looks like that has been fixed already although sphinx 1.1.3 works without problems on 3.x
| for the most part
12:37:08 DasIch | seblu: I'm not sure when there is going to be a release but I would nevertheless advice against using
| the beta as it has introduced an issue with intersphinx/linkcheck
12:39:30 seblu | ok, I'm not very confident with pushing beta to repositories
12:40:13 DasIch | seblu: I would recommend waiting until 1.2 is released
12:40:45 seblu | DasIch: let do that
12:40:47 DasIch | seblu: the issue only affects users of the manpage builder and most users aren't even using it afaik

So I think I will close and we'll wait next release.

Yeah, let’s do that (I can build manpages in a virtualenv until then).
