Description:
I know about Dave's announcement of mkinitcpio 0.14 (see [1]). I'm one of the "lucky" ones who gets warnings for the fallback image regarding the modules "bfa" and "aic94xx". There seems to be a package "aic94xx-firmware" in the AUR, but in the case of "bfa" there is not even a package for the firmware. So when I understand this right, every single Arch user will get this warning for now. Obviously enough I'm not a big fan of warnings, especially when I can't do anything about them. Furthermore I don't like the idea that I would have to install some (proprietary) firmware to get rid of warnings. I couldn't find any developer mailing list or something like that, therefore I'm trying to get the rational for this decision here. Without knowing too much about mkinitcpio itself: Wouldn't it be possible to add some configuration option, which would allow to specify modules, which then wouldn't be added? When I got the man pages right, this isn't possible, its only possible to skip hooks, but not to "skip" modules. |
