Details

Adding a libtool slay function in makepkg is pretty useful. Packagers can simply type say, libtool_slay instead of typing a line of code that repeats itself in almost every PKGBUILD.
This also wont harm pkgs that need the .la to be there cos they can obviously avoid using this function at the end of their pkgbuilds :P

Yes, we're looking into something like this, but in a grander scope. It would be swell to have "classes" in PKGBUILDs that let you automate certain things. One example is libtool-slaying, another would be the additions of users/groups required for the package build.

See #1588 for more info on this. I'm going to close this one as a dupe, since the two requests are quite related.
