Description:

Evince window size is reset to 600x600 when toggling site pane, also opening a pdf results always in a resize to 600x600

i have reported this here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=698806
gnome devs report it as workforthem.

this bug was introduced with the upgrade to 3.8.0 (3.6.1 worked)

Additional info:
* package version(s) 3.8.0 broke it


Steps to reproduce:
1. open pdf resize it
2. press F9 to toggle sidepanel
3. watch size to shrink to 600x600

Is this in gnome environment, or with a different window manager?

issue is much broader: evince and evolution both don't remember their last size (correctly) and are reset to 600x600 px.
For example pressing View -> layout -> Show toolbar in evolution also resizes it to 600x600
can somebody confirm this?

I can. Guess this might be a gtk3 problem. It also happens with gedit and gthumb.

Here's a patch we could use right away to fix this until the next upstream release, it seems to be annoying a lot of people.
