Hi, I upgrade to initscripts 0.7.1-5 and I configure new /etc/rc.conf with no hotplug at startup.
After a system reboot, startup was very fast but gdm didn't start because there wasn't the nvidia device.
I enabled hotplug, I rebooted again and now everythings works well

I attach 2 file:
dev1) with NO hotplug loaded
find /dev/ > dev1
dev2) with hotplug loaded
find /dev/ > dev2

I'm using testing tree
(application/octet-stream)    dev1 (32.4 KiB)
(application/octet-stream)    dev2 (32.6 KiB)

hm strange, but for such things i would suggest to use the nvidia startup daemon.
this takes also care if you updated kernel etc.
hwdetect should load nvidia too, but seems to fail in your case.

I added nvidia to startup daemons, and I disabled hotplug, I rebooted and now everythings works very well!
Thank you! :)
