Alsa plugin a52 doesn't work with ffmpeg version 1.1 or higher. Specifically encoding to ac3 inside a52 fails, probably due to changes in ffmpeg. Error message is: [ac3_fixed @ 0x18daf20] Specified sample format s16 is invalid or not supported In result there is no sound. Alsa fails to encode sound to ac3 and therefore pulseaudio fails to open alsa-sink. When I downgrade ffmpeg to version lesser than 1.1 it works. Steps to reproduce: Configure a52 in /etc/asound.conf and try running speaker-test or aplay. Small BBS thread with this issue is here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=155801 . |

I tried to compile git HEAD version of alsa-plugins but it fails. I will recompile alsa-plugins with makepkg this evening and let you know.

OK I tried to recompile alsa-plugins and it did not help. Result is same: [ac3_fixed @ 0xadcc80] Specified sample format s16 is invalid or not supported

Horay! I just build package alsa-plugins from latest tag 1.0.27 which has been published yesterday and plugin a52 works again like a charm.
