Description:
Not 100% sure when this bug started to happen, but after updating kde to 4.10.2 today, and restarting it, dolphin no longer support the smb:// protocol in the address field. It just reports invalid protocol. Additional info: samba 4.0.4-1 is installed. Tested on Arch 64bit. Steps to reproduce: Open dolphin and try smb:// in the address bar. |

After upgrading to kde 4.10.2 smb KIO slave is missing. Try smb:// in konqueror and it will add http://. It's not recognized as a KIO slave. Try sbm:/server.address in dolphin's address bar (you don't need to have samba server in your network) and it will try to open default web browser to navigate to "http://smb:/server.adrress" because it is recognized as a web address.
I tried other KIO slaves such as trash:/, man:/ bookmarks:/, applications:/ etc and it seems that only smb is missing. Yesterday with kde 4.10.1 everything was ok.
BTW, I am not sure whether this is a bug or an upstream change but kinfocenter used to have a list of available KIO slaves under "protocols" subcategory. Today I tried to look there for smb:/ but I can't find "protocols".
