Summary and Info:
pacman 4.1.0-1

This has been fixed in git in 2011 ( FS#26806 , http://projects.archlinux.org/pacman.git/commit/?h=maint&id=ad09db3c5), but it never did its way to abs. I had this problem again with pacman 4.1.0-1 from testing.

Steps to Reproduce:
* Create PKGBUILD with rsync:// source files
* makepkg -g >> PKGBUILD
* rsync writes motd to PKGBUILD
