Downloaded this day and burned to CD arch0.7.1pre-1.

Attempts to load via command : arch root=/dev/hda3....results in a normal install prompt.
The system in root=/dev/hda3 is kernel 2.6.13.

There is no initrd entry in lilo in the kernel 2.6.13 setup.

I expected a boot of the /dev/hda3 vmlinuz.

Perhaps the CD is not backwards compatible or has a defect in the boot intro.

A point of interest regarding the install...it would seem efficacious if the kernel being installed were known beforehand as a note at the bootprompt.

Ran the CD0.7.1-pre1 to load the arch kernel 2.6.14-4 and included the initrd=/boot/initrd26.img in the lilo.conf listing.

The base system was loaded and booted to log-in prompt and ping yahoo.com was successful. During the install procedure I noted that the initrd details appeared during the kernel install step but did not stay on screen long enough for a user to assimilate them.

I suggest a pause step at that point may be helpful to assure new users that nothing is amiss(or alert as to the need for the entry in the bootloader).

I note that tpowa has alerted all users as to the need for bootloader entries but people are forgetful!
