DetailsPackage gsimplecal needs a .desktop file. "Accessories" or "Office" is the right category under which it should file for menu layouts. Thanks.

attaching a useable .desktop file speeds up the process

It is not designed to use a desktop file, as running it again will close the instance. It is designed to be launched by clicking a "clock" or binding it to a hotkey. I cannot imagine you finding it efficient having to navigate through a menu to close it.
