Description:
I have a ArchLinux with OpenBox in a EeePC and volumeicon does not start at boot. If I try to start it manually print the following (in spanish because I'm from Spain):

volumeicon: alsa_backend.c:92: asound_get_volume: La declaración `m_elem != ((void *)0)' no se cumple.
Abortado (`core' generado)

It says something like 'Declaration `m_elem ... ' is not met. Aborting (`core' generated)'.

Additional info:
Version of volumeicon: volumeicon-0.5.0-1

Steps to reproduce:

In my autostart file (Openbox ones) appears like: volumeicon -b &
The times I tried to start it manually I used the same command without forking to background using '&' and other time without the -b option. It's assumed to be executed with tint2.
This task depends upon

Thanks for reporting.

Does it start if you run this command?
LC_ALL=C volumeicon

No, it didn't. Maybe I used it incorrectly. I did:

Add LC_ALL=C to the /etc/locale.conf,regenerate the locale and restart.

Does it start if you just run "LC_ALL=C volumeicon" on the commandline? "C" is used for debugging and nothing should need to be added to locale.conf.

I'm unable to reproduce the issue here. I assume you're on i686, is that correct? I'm on x86_64.

No, I'm on x86_64. And the command "LC_ALL=C volumeicon" didn't worked, printed the same error.

Looks like volumeicon is unable to fetch the volume setting from your alsa card/configuration. This is an upstream error.

Please report this bug to the volumeicon developer and include an url to the bugreport here.

Thank you.

Okey, after a few mails with the developer the problem is now solved.

The config file must be removed (~/.config/volumeicon/volumeicon) and execute it without options.

Great, thanks for figuring this one out. I'll consider adding a message about it that will be displayed at install-time for the next package release of volumeicon, if needed.
