DetailsDescription: System will freeze during boot-up at the moment kms kicks in and screen changes resolution. Graphical artifacts appear (color stripes covering about a quarter of the screen) and the system becomes completely unresponsive. Power button will not work, the only way to shutdown and reboot is to unplug. Behaviour specific to kernel 3.8.x only, 3.7.9 and previous working without issue.
Additional info: * linux-3.8.x, testing repo enabled and up-to-date * 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Wrestler [Radeon HD 6290] Steps to reproduce: install 3.8.x kernel from testing repo |

linux-3.8.5 -> black screen and freeze. Can boot with 'radeon.modeset=0'
linux-3.7.10 -> works fine with 'radeon.modeset=1'
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV670PRO [Radeon HD 3850]
Is there any lead on this one ? I find it problematic it got past 'testing' without being fixed...
