Sounds like a broken cable/device etc. and you don't even post with which kernel this happens.
Comment by Jan de Groot (JGC) - Monday, 25 February 2013, 14:47 GMT
Please post output of smartctl -a /dev/sda (or whatever this disk may be). Also, what controller is this?
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Wednesday, 27 February 2013, 11:37 GMT
What kernel are you using?

Sorry for late but this machine must work 24/7.

Linux version 3.7.7-1-ARCH (nobody@foutrelis) (gcc version 4.7.2 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 11 20:20:58 EET 2013

Voltage for SATA connection:
U5=5,06V
U12=12,6V
All it's ok (in torerance).

I was read in other forum that problem it's in NCQ. My motherboard ASROCK 890GM PRO3 probably don't support NCQ (I don't know).
I'm looking in my bios but don't see any option to disable NCQ.
Have you any idea else?

You should check what you're posting. I would like to see the output of smartctl -a /dev/sda, you made a typo there.

Also, you might want to check your BIOS and disable IDE mode. AHCI mode is optimal nowadays.

I was ansfer for all your question, but I see you did not read my post.

and

"Feb 27 14:08:45 mail2 kernel: [ 1.780617] ahci 0000:00:11.0: AHCI 0001.0200 32 slots 4 ports 6 Gbps 0xf impl SATA mode

as you see AHCI is enabled in bios.

You did not read your own post. If the output of "smartctl -a /dev/sda" results in "invalid argument to -s: /dev/sda", then you made a typo there and just copied whatever is in the terminal without reading.

Anyways, I see IDE mode in lspci output and IDE controllers in dmesg where your board doesn't have IDE, so somewhere in your system IDE mode is still active.
